I travel for new experiences, destinations and as travelers often comment, a cruise is the easiest way to accomplish all this. Unpack once and enjoy. But…more than 50% of my “enjoyment” …okay, 90%…depends on the food quality. Marine Steve and I love food. Not gourmet cuisine or $150 per person degustations but a wide variety of food especially on a cruise when whatever you eat, or don’t eat is included. We have been known to order several starters or appetizers, a few entrees and many desserts just to cover all bases and then eat the best of what is served. After all, not every food is going to taste super luscious or be to your taste.

The best part of cruise food is sampling something new and different along with oldie but goodie favorites. L’Austral ship had wonderful food which shouldn’t surprise anyone since French Le Compagnie du Ponant owns the line. Enough said….
Perhaps you may question why dessert clips at lunch and dinner in the video above always begin with an array of desserts? That is because I made a beeline for desserts when entering the dining room to see what yummies were on the menu. Dessert happens to be my favorite part of a meal and I was in hog heaven with an unending variety to choose from twice a day.
There was also the ability to order from Room Service 24/7, little noshes at the bars, and turndown candy or cookies. Now who could really take advantage of that with unending amounts of food at breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Not us.
Meats were cooked exactly to our liking, a gigantic variety of different salads were served at lunch and dinner, and there was always something uber delicious to rave about.
Don’t watch the video if you are hungry. I’m waiting for it to implode since Marine Steve and I drooled all over the computer during editing. Yum…
